ASDA Opticians and RNIB, the Royal National Institute of Blind People are raising awareness for good eye care throughout April.
Every day around 100 people start to lose their sight, despite the fact that 50% of sight loss is avoidable.
There are simple steps recommended by RNIB and ASDA Opticians for everyone to follow.
1. Have a regular eye test at least every two years, to check for possible problems.
2. Don't smoke. It greatly increases the risk of contracting certain eye conditions.
3. Eat healthily and stay trim. A good diet can help prevent harmful eye conditions.
4. Always wear sunglasses with a UV filter when you're out and about in the sunshine.
5. Safety first: always wear the appropriate equipment for sports, gardening and DIY.
Our fully qualified Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians and trained Optical Advisors will offer you help and advice with all eye test services.
Full Eye Test
Regular eye tests are important for more than just identifying whether your vision needs correcting. Your eye test can reveal a number of other underlying problems, such as Glaucoma or Diabetes. Eye tests are £15 in England and Wales and free in Scotland.
Contact Lens Assessment
At ASDA Opticians, our full contact lens assessment and trial means we'll help you find the most comfortable, convenient and affordable contact lenses for you.
Contact Lens Aftercare
Regular aftercare is a vital part of wearing contact lenses. This service checks the health of your eyes and your contact lens specification and enables you to continue wearing and purchasing contact lenses.
Professional Dispensing Service
All our Optical Advisors are fully trained to help you choose the right pair of frames. The professional dispensing service offered by ASDA Opticians will not only make you feel more comfortable when wearing your glasses, but will also ensure you choose frames which best suit your lifestyle.
